A new community landmark now stands at Pratt Park in Glen Cove, honoring the first responders who serve and protect the city every day.
John McGowan & Sons was proud to support this meaningful project by donating the concrete foundation for the park’s new 12-by-20-foot gazebo. The structure was officially dedicated on July 4, 2026, as a permanent tribute to the men and women who answer Glen Cove’s emergency calls.
For a company that has called the North Shore home since 1928, contributing to a project with lasting community value was especially meaningful.
Building a Permanent Tribute at Pratt Park
The First Responders Gazebo was created through an initiative led by the Glen Cove Beautification Litter Prevention Program, Inc. Its vision was to give residents a beautiful gathering place while recognizing the service, dedication, and sacrifices of Glen Cove’s first responders.
The completed gazebo overlooks Pratt Park and provides a welcoming place for future community events, ceremonies, and everyday gatherings.
According to the Herald Community Newspapers, construction included a concrete foundation donated by John McGowan & Sons of Sea Cliff. Workers from Amish Country Gazebos then installed the structure over the prepared foundation.
McGowan’s Contribution to the Gazebo Project
Every lasting outdoor structure begins with a dependable base. For this project, John McGowan & Sons donated the concrete foundation that supports the new gazebo.
A properly constructed concrete foundation provides a stable, level surface beneath an outdoor structure. It also creates a durable area that can withstand regular use and exposure to Long Island’s changing weather.
While the foundation may be less visible than the finished gazebo, it plays an essential role in the structure’s long-term performance. We were honored to contribute the concrete work needed to help bring this community project to life.
Honoring Glen Cove’s First Responders
The gazebo was formally dedicated following Glen Cove’s Children’s Bike Parade on July 4. The ceremony recognized members of the:
- Glen Cove Police Department
- Glen Cove Volunteer Fire Department
- Glen Cove Emergency Medical Services
- Glen Cove Harbor Patrol
- Glen Cove Auxiliary Police
The dedication formed part of Glen Cove’s America 250 Celebration Weekend. The City of Glen Cove described the gazebo as a tribute to the dedication and service of those who protect the community.
The location will continue to remind visitors of the people who respond during emergencies, safeguard local neighborhoods, and serve Glen Cove throughout the year.
A Community Project Built Through Collaboration
Projects like the First Responders Gazebo become possible when local organizations, businesses, municipal departments, and volunteers work together.
John McGowan & Sons extends its appreciation to the Glen Cove Beautification Litter Prevention Program, the City of Glen Cove, Amish Country Gazebos, and everyone who contributed time, materials, planning, or labor to the project.
Their shared effort transformed an idea into a permanent community space that can be enjoyed for generations.
